Stablecoins are virtual assets designed to maintain a stable value relative to some other asset. This is most commonly used to represent currencies, however can be used to track loans, physical property, or commodities. Within Lidian, the focus is on stablecoin currencies such as USD, EUR, JPY, and other popular currencies that have become tokenized.

Standards

Traditionally, stablecoins are available in the ERC-20 format as they are tokens created on existing blockchains. Across the majority of blockchains that Lidian supports it is anticipated that ERC-20 will be used. In some cases, such as the upcoming chain from Circle known as Arc; it is expected that the native gas token will be a stablecoin which is slightly different, but still fully supported by Lidian.
